Designed the first ever mobile library app for Enugu State University of Science and Technology — digitising decades of academic materials and embedding AI to make knowledge instantly accessible to every student and lecturer.

Enugu State University of Science and Technology had no centralised digital system for accessing academic resources. Students relied entirely on physical library visits, limited by opening hours, availability of materials, and distance. The challenge was to design a mobile experience that not only brought the library online but made it smarter — introducing an AI assistant capable of answering academic questions, finding resources, and understanding university context.
With 80,000+ students and faculty required to sign up, the platform is positioned to become the largest university library app in the state. The embedded Chioma AI assistant sets it apart from every other university library solution in Nigeria, giving students instant answers with live book sales analytics and book submissions.
Process
Interviewed students, lecturers, and library staff to map real access patterns and the two most critical design requirements
Designed the full app in Figma — covering onboarding, home, search, reading experience, bookmarks, and a separate lecturer view
Built a full component library with colour tokens, typography, icons, and reusable UI patterns across hundreds of screens
Ran usability sessions with students to validate navigation patterns and onboarding flow before final handoff
